Epson C40 Ink Cartridge Refill Instructions

April 7, 2008 – 12:53 pm

Carefully follow the refill instructions below to refill your Epson C40 black ink cartridges and also to refill your Epson C40 colour ink cartridges.

These instructions are based on using a Jettec refill kit with specifically formulated inks suitable for refilling Epson C40 ink cartridges although the principles are the same if you already have a refill kit.

Always Cover Your Working Area
With Folded Kitchen Paper In Case Of Ink Spillage

  1. Use adhesive tape to cover the ink outlet port ( A ). Puncture the label with a ballpoint pen to reveal the filling holes ( B ).
  2. Assemble the syringe and needle , Pierce the bottle seal and draw up some ink.
  3. Insert the needle through the fill hole ( B ) and down into the foam. If filling a colour cartridge ensure that you inject the correct colour ink into the correct colour chamber.
  4. Slowly inject the ink, Important the cartridge contains sponge and slight resistance may be felt.
  5. When ink appears at the fill hole, draw back the syringe slightly until the ink disappears. The cartridge is now full. If you are filling a colour cartridge clean the syringe and needle thoroughly with water before filling with the next colour ink.
  6. Do not remove tape from outlet ports ( A ) The tape is punctured when the cartridge is fitted to the machine and do not reseal the fill holes ( B )
  7. Install the cartridge and run the cleaning cycle on the printer. The best print quality will be achieved if the cartridge is left in the printer before use.
  8. Clean the syringe and needle for future use.

  2. I have a question. Can I refill my cartridges that were discarded like a year ago? I am not sure if these old cartridges will work just as well as those newer ones that were refilled.

    Thank you.
